The UMR ESPACE-DEV conducts research on the spatial dynamics that characterize eco-sociosystems. Its objectives focus on defining indicators of these dynamics: biogeophysical processes, societal changes, risks associated with emerging diseases based on environmental parameters, and territorial changes and vulnerability to global shifts. To this end, it develops methodologies in space-based remote sensing and knowledge integration. The LICeM brings together faculty members and researchers who are deeply involved in the field of innovation, particularly in economic law. The unit, composed of legal scholars, focuses its research on two areas related to innovation as it pertains to the law. The first area aims to identify and understand—in light of new market offerings and behaviors—what legal innovations are being created. The second area, meanwhile, seeks to analyze the legal framework governing innovative products resulting from digital technologies. The EDSM’s general research focus is on collective bargaining. Following the fundamental reforms of recent years, the specific aim is to assess the social innovation brought about by collective bargaining agreements and conventions.It also focuses, in particular, on the topic of small businesses, seeking to assess the suitability (or unsuitability) of labor law for small businesses. CERCOP is a research team whose research focuses on examining what has come to be known, since the development of constitutional justice and the sophistication of human rights protection techniques, as “the new constitutional law.” The first research area is dedicated to the study and analysis of constitutional litigation and its implications for the democratic balance of political systems. The second addresses the study of constitutional law in light of state theory and the philosophy of law. The third is devoted to the epistemology of comparative law and the comparative analysis of constitutional systems around the world.The fourth focuses on “punitive constitutional law” and constitutional case law concerning rights and freedoms. OREME focuses its scientific activities on natural hazards and the impact of global and anthropogenic changes on the Mediterranean region, drawing on the scientific and technical expertise of its partners in the geosciences, hydrosciences, biodiversity sciences, and ecology. Its mission is: to support the conduct or development of systematic observation in space and environmental sciences; to support the creation of open, shared, and internationally referenced environmental databases; to encourage the pooling of analytical resources (observation, experimentation, modeling) and expertise; to serve as the local liaison for national observation networks and to position itself as a key player in Mediterranean-focused environmental initiatives. OREME therefore focuses on three fundamental questions: the origin and assessment of natural and human-induced hazards and disturbances; the documentation of recent and ongoing global changes, their links to human factors, and in particular changes in the use of Mediterranean environments; the response of the systems and mechanisms involved. Drawing on the educational programs of the University of Montpellier to fulfill its educational mission, OREME focuses on its ability to mobilize extensive and sustainable observation resources, as well as recognized scientific and technical expertise, on a wide range of aspects of the Mediterranean’s physical, chemical, and biological environment: geodesy, gravimetry, and deformation of the Earth and its surface; hydrogeological, hydrological, and geophysical monitoring of aquifers, particularly karstic ones; monitoring of the Languedoc coastline, the interface between watersheds and marine environments, and the shoreline; pollution and biological resilience downstream of former mining sites; measurement of fluxes (CO₂, water, gases) and ecosystem functioning; phenology of terrestrial flora and fauna; dynamics of animal and plant communities; population dynamics of model organisms. It also houses three major regional technical platforms: GLADYS for integrated coastal studies, AETE for water pollution analysis, and the Sète Marine Station (SMEL).
